How to read a payout policy

Split, frequency, minimums, caps and buffers: the five numbers that decide when money actually reaches you.

Profit split

The percentage of profit you keep. Some firms scale the split over time or after a certain amount of payouts. A higher split on a plan with long waiting periods can be worth less than a slightly lower split paid sooner.

Frequency and waiting periods

Policies range from on-demand to every few weeks. Many add requirements such as a minimum number of winning days before the first request.

Minimums, caps and buffers

A minimum payout sets the smallest amount you can request. A cap limits the largest. A buffer requires you to keep some profit in the account above your starting balance before withdrawing. Together they decide how much of your profit is actually withdrawable.
